This hands-on workshop introduces participants to a range of surface analysis techniques essential for material characterization. The workshop is designed to provide theoretical insights and practical demonstrations of advanced tools, providing researchers with the opportunity to enhance their analytical skills and knowledge. The participants will be able to get a closer look at the following key analysis tools. These fundamental tools are of great importance whether you are cracking a research question or an industrial problem:
1. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM):
Learn the fundamentals of high-resolution imaging, secondary and backscattered electron analysis, and elemental mapping using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).
2. BET Surface Area Analysis:
Understand the principles of gas adsorption and pore size analysis to determine surface area and porosity.
3. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR):
Gain insights into molecular identification and functional group analysis of surfaces.
4. Raman Spectroscopy:
Explore vibrational spectroscopy for material characterization and chemical fingerprinting.
